About Me

History

My Name Is Abdi Elmi Gedi, and This Is My Story of Struggle, Resilience, and Hope for the Madhiban People.

I was born and raised in Ceergaboo, Somalia, where I spent most of my life as part of the Madhiban community. From a young age, I saw how people from my tribe were treated differently—denied opportunities, excluded from important decisions, and seen as less than others. We were not given the same rights, and our voices were ignored. It was painful to witness, but even more painful to experience. Like many others, I have faced discrimination simply because of my identity, something I never chose but was born into. I refused to accept that this was how things had to be. I started this organization to bring attention to the struggles of the Madhiban people, to create a space where our voices could be heard, and to fight for the respect and recognition we deserve. My journey has not been easy, but I believe in change. I believe that when we come together, we can make a difference. This is more than my story—it is the story of an entire community that has been overlooked for far too long. If you share this vision, I invite you to stand with us and be part of this movement for justice and equality.
