Madhiban Minority Community (MMC) Incorporation

Welcome To MMC Website

The Madhiban Minority Community, a non-profit organization, was officially established on 06 March 2025 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Its primary purpose is to support and empower Somali-origin communities from marginalized groups. This is the first Madhiban Minority Community of African descent to be founded in Melbourne, Victoria. The community resides across Victoria, Queensland (QLD), and Perth.

The organization will address the needs and challenges faced by historically marginalized groups originally from Somalia. These groups, often referred to as “low-caste” clans, have endured systemic discrimination, racism, and social exclusion based on their clan identity within the larger Somali clan system. The organization is committed to addressing urgent social issues such as youth development, empowerment, education, elderly care, family conflict resolution, job creation, housing rights, legal advocacy, and fostering peaceful coexistence among all communities in the country. It will operate impartially, engaging all members and stakeholders in collaborative efforts.

Who Are the Madhiban People?

The Madhiban are an integral part of Somalia’s history and culture, often regarded as one of the earliest communities in the region. Despite their historical significance, they have been subjected to severe marginalization. The Somali caste system, which divides society into hierarchical clans, has placed the Madhiban outside the dominant clan structures, denying them access to basic rights, intermarriage with other clans, and participation in political decision-making.

Historically, the Madhiban have been artisans, craftsmen, and skilled labourers, contributing immensely to Somali society. Yet, their contributions have often been overlooked, and they have been relegated to the fringes of society, facing stigma and exclusion.

Our Mission

At the Madhiban minority community Initiative, we believe in the inherent dignity and potential of every individual. Our mission is to:

  • Promote Education: Provide access to quality education for Madhiban minority children and adults, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty.
  • Preserve Culture: Celebrate and document the rich cultural heritage of the Madhiban minority people, ensuring their history is recognized and respected.
  • Foster Economic Empowerment: Create sustainable livelihood opportunities through skill development, entrepreneurship programs, and access to resources.
  • Build Bridges: Encourage dialogue and understanding between the Madhiban minority community and other Somali clans to promote social cohesion and unity.

 Our Vision

We envision a Somalia where the Madhiban minority people are fully integrated into society, free from discrimination, and able to thrive as equal members of the nation. We strive for a future where their voices are heard, their rights are protected, and their contributions are celebrated. As community leaders, we will collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies to prevent criminal activities through effective partnerships.

Join Us in Making a Difference
